In the fall of 2010, our Infection Control Committee was introduced to a new cuff technology that we incorporated into clinics with outstanding success. When this feature was officially introduced, operators reported that they loved it. This technology made the gowning and gloving processes both easier and faster, and it effectively secured the cuff under the glove to prevent cuff-shift that potentially exposes our students and staff to cross contamination. Our facility is thrilled to elevate our compliance so easily and most importantly, affordably. We are considering these new technologies for other departments. I would highly recommend compliance personnel to consider this technology as an important aid in infection prevention strategies. Being the largest dental school in North America with approximately 600 users this trail and evaluation has certainly been successful.
