ANTI-STATIC HAND PROTECTION FOR YOUR SEMICONDUCTOR PLANT
The pandemic induced global shortages of semiconductors lead Washington to pass the CHIPS and Science Act. This act has yielded multibillion dollar investments to ramp up and boost American chip manufacturing to prevent the U.S. from becoming a potential victim to supply chain shortages from ever happening again.
With this bill comes an expectation from The U.S. Commerce Department that the United States will need 90,000 additional workers in the semiconductor industry by 2025, many of which will need hand protection to ensure the success of its products and business.
Semiconductor device fabrication is a highly precise and specialized process that is prone to defects stemming from contamination, foreign substances or electrostatic discharge (ESD). If you have ever been "zapped" when you touched a metal object, then you know something about the effects of static electricity.
WHAT IS ESD?
Electrostatic discharge (ESD) is a sudden and momentary flow of electric current between two electrically charged objects by contact, an electrical short or dielectric breakdown. ESD can have a killer effect, or rather create a killer defect. It is essential to be protected while working in statically charged environments. One of the most important (but sometimes overlooked) protective items you can have with you at work stations to prevent ESD are the proper work gloves. For this reason, ESD Protected Areas (EPAs) require antistatic gloves in both handling and assembly processes. The gloves protect the worker’s hands while shielding products and components from getting contaminated.
SHOWA's antistatic protection gloves are your hands’ P.P.E. solution in a statically charged work environment. All of SHOWA's antistatic gloves follow surface resistivity standards. This feature makes their gloves the preferred choice in industries such as aerospace, automotive, IT, and electronic cleanroom environments.
CERTIFICATIONS
SHOWA® is a fully integrated global manufacturer of industrial and specialty hand protection that includes biodegradable single-use gloves, and they work with the very latest in technological advancements with a renewed focus on creativity and innovation. Certified under the standard EN 16350, SHOWA® Static Dissipative work gloves meet the requirements for electrostatic properties (ESD). This certification ensures the glove’s safe usage in ATEX zones (working area with risk of explosion and/or high flammability).
For maximum cleanliness, SHOWA’s anti-static gloves are silicone-free, latex-free and OEKE-TEX® certified which means that every component of the product, from the fabric to the thread has been rigorously tested against 350 toxic chemicals.
Available with or without ANSI rated cut-resistance in different glove gauges with or without a palm coating, the following SHOWA® anti-static seamless knitted gloves feature ergonomic styling and touchscreen/touch panel compatibility which translates to safer employees and reduced potential for human contamination.

Production operations that involve intricate work with circuit boards or handling heavy equipment in a hazardous environment are just some of the conditions sensitive to static discharge. Manufacturing industries such as aerospace and automotive should not overlook the danger of electrostatic discharge (ESD). Gas explosions and integrated circuit failures cripple business operations and even cause fatalities. Don’t wait for a disaster to happen at your site. If you haven’t considered hand protection, then consider SHOWA® brand for your workforce.
