SINGLE-USE ESD CERTIFIED GLOVES

If you are handling sensitive electronics or flammable liquids and searching for disposable hand protection then we’ve got you covered! Sempermed®, one of the world's leading manufacturers and suppliers of single-use gloves, is pleased to announce they offer multiple disposable glove options that are Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) tested and approved.

WHAT IS ESD?

If you ever been "zapped" when you touched a doorknob or handle, then you already know something about the effects of static electricity. This unexpected nuisance referred to electrical static discharge is known as ESD and it can have a killer effect.

Electrostatic discharge is the sudden flow of electricity between two electrically charged objects caused by contact or an electrical short or dielectric breakdown. The human body is an excellent conductor of electricity and a person can become statically charged with upwards of several thousand volts. The static charge that builds up in humans must be released usually resulting in an electrical shock.

The simple fact is the oils from your skin and static electricity are highly corrosive to delicate fibers, pulps, metals and electronics.  The shock caused by static electricity can bring more power at your fingertips than you ever imagined but unfortunately you won't be hailed as a super hero if you accidently zap a valuable circuit board or an expensive electronic device.  Static electricity can also pose a fire-risk in industries that handle flammable liquids such as automotive, painting, chemical, lab, pyrotechnic and petroleum/gas.

Delicate and tiny electronic parts require the highest level of tactility when handling but assembling circuit boards with bare hands is certainly not an option. There’s a growing demand for ESD gloves in the Industrial marketplace. Those who use their hands to work with flammable products/liquids or sensitive electronics are required to wear ESD gloves as a safety precaution for themselves and the environment.

WHAT ARE ESD GLOVES?

ESD gloves provide hand protection that helps prevent damage from electrostatic discharge and are generally safe to work with flammable liquids, chemicals or static sensitive devices. In many industries, the discharge of static electricity can damage a variety of products, especially sensitive electronics.
