ECO Hi-Vis Jackets That Provide a Brighter Future!
When the cold weather rolls around, be sure to equip your crew with these bio-based EC60 ECO Jackets that keep operators visible while diverting plastic bottles from our landfill!
The winter season brings out the winter work gloves, snow boots, hand warmers, snow shovels and snow removal equipment. But before laborers can hit the road, most workers will be required to wear their high visibility clothing that will transform the fluffy, white landscape from a distance.
High-visibility safety apparel (HVSA), sometimes known as hi-viz P.P.E., is any clothing worn that has highly retro-reflective properties or a color that is easily discernible from any background. Most employers require hi-vis apparel as a type of personal protective equipment (P.P.E.) that must be worn while on the job. Bright yellow or orange jackets, work safety T-shirts or safety vests worn by emergency services are a common example.
If you are planning on equipping your crew with Hi-Viz Work Jackets, we have a sustainable option you should consider!
In an attempt to rid single-use plastic from our supply chains and as a way of “protecting our planet”, Portwest®, a 120 year old global manufacturer of workwear, safety gear and P.P.E. (Personal Protection Equipment) is dedicated to increasing the use of sustainable and recycled materials in product manufacturing.
DIVERT LANDFILL
Protect Your Team with Hi-Vis Winter Jackets Made From 79 Recycled P.E.T. Water Bottles!
Portwest® understands that a healthy workforce is integral to achieving business goals and they’re fully committed to ensuring that all worker's safety, human rights and well-being are respected.
Pairing these goals with a focus on creating a sustainable and healthy environment, Portwest® has developed a new initiative with clearly defined short and long-term sustainability goals called Portwest® Planet - a new range of eco-conscious ANSI/ISEA 107 compliant high-visibility apparel that converts discarded P.E.T. water bottles into fibers used to construct their EC60 Eco Hi-Vis Winter Jackets.
REDUCE PLASTIC POLLUTION & TOXIC MICROPLASTIC
The entire life cycle of bottled water uses fossil fuels, contributes to global warming, and causes pollution and litter. Americans buy 50 billion water bottles a year or 100 million plastic water bottles per day.
Unfortunately 86% of these water bottles end up in landfill where it takes at least 1000 years to decompose, leaching pollutants such as microplastics into our soil and waterways. As a result, U.S. landfills are overflowing with 2 million tons of discarded water bottles.
BIO-BASED FIBERS
The use of recycled polyester produced from P.E.T. (rPET) bottles, requires fewer resources than that of new fibers and generates fewer CO2 emissions for a small carbon footprint. And it can be recycled again closing the loop. In addition, diverting P.E.T. bottles from landfill reduces soil contamination, pollution and toxic micro-plastic.
Perfect for emergency responders, utility personnel, railway, snow removal crews, highway workers, construction workers, landscapers, towing services, environmental cleanups, cyclists, joggers, airport workers, or other places where workers are near moving vehicles or in dark areas or low light conditions.
