Color Coding for Safe, Efficient Food Processing

While colors are generally used to induce different emotions, they can also be used as a guide or to distinguish, especially in the food processing industry to help reduce the risk of cross-contamination that leads to recalls. Food processors are regulated by the FDA to ensure that cross contamination is controlled to keep consumers safe. An example of a color-coding technique is using blue or black colored PPE with lighter colored food products such as dough products as a darker color is easier to see and trace should a piece of the PPE tear off and fall into the batch.

KeepKleen® aprons are made in Canada and made with 100% polyurethane. Semi-disposable 5.5mm thickness allows apron to be cleaned for re-use, or used and then disposed. The seamless, water-resistant one-piece design is easy to wipe clean with water or bleach solution. Available in yellow color (A5YTP4537) or blue color (A5BTP4537), the apron can be trimmed to any height and is suitable for animal or seafood processing and packaging.
