In fact, EMT's, first responders, landfill personnel and other medical workers are told if they encounter a red bag, red sharps container, objects marked with the biohazard symbol, blood or blood-containing material, human or animal parts; or other material that appears to be medical waste, to treat it as if it is hazardous waste.
